Augustana University seeks applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment at the level of Associate or Professor for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. This role carries responsibility for overseeing the DPT program, which includes lab immersions in Minneapolis, MN. Our accelerated two-year DPT program is a dynamic blend of online and on-campus activities, allowing faculty members to reside remotely from Augustana University. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Sioux Falls, SD, or Blane, MN, for designated periods each trimester. Successful candidates will hold an earned terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities and possess at least six years of full-time experience as faculty in a DPT program. Candidates with teaching experience in higher education leadership, established research and scholarship agendas, records of community service, and a spirit of innovation to explore new teaching strategies in hybrid learning are preferred. The position commences on August 1, 2024.

Optimal candidates should understand higher education and contemporary physical therapy practice; legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy; and activity in professional activities at local, state, and national levels. In addition, excellent communication and strong computer skills are required to meet the needs of our online didactic instructional format.

1. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the Core Values of the Physical Therapy profession;

2. Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and expertise in the area of teaching;

3. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both written and orally, both online and in-person;

4. Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty, and staff;

5. Demonstrates the ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality (FERPA);

6. Demonstrates the ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities in the DPT Program.

Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
