Job Description:
Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $52,000
Campus Recreational Services is looking for an enthusiastic team player to oversee our Intramurals program.
Campus Recreation offers a multi-faceted program that is designed to encourage positive lifestyle choices and promote lifelong learning though both wellness and physical activity. The department manages the Recreation Center at the East Gym and operates six core program areas: Fitness, Open Recreation, Intramurals, Club Sports, Outdoor Pursuits and Wellness Services. Through these programs the department serves approximately 80% of undergraduate students, as well as graduate students, faculty and staff, alumni, University affiliates and community members.
The Assistant Director for Intramurals is responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive intramural sports program with leagues, tournaments and one-day events, as well as contributing to the overall success of the Campus Recreation department. This position will supervise a Graduate Assistant and a student staff of approximately 45 employees (supervisors and officials). Major duties will include program management, personnel management and programming.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily administration of the Intramurals program including league development and scheduling, registration processes, event reporting, program promotion, budget and facility/equipment management.
- Interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate student intramural staff members (GA, supervisors and officials).
- Develop and oversee program budget including managing program fiscal matters associated with equipment/supply purchase, student staff payroll and maintenance/repairs.
- Maintain accurate program statistics, reports and date by using the IM-Leagues.com to schedule and track participation.
- Communicate and interact with program participants and staff to promote effective delivery of services.
- Assist with implementing risk management plans and emergency action plans.
- Procure and maintain program equipment, including preventative maintenance.
- Assist in the coordination, planning and logistics of special events and programs.
- Instruct Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid classes as needed.
- Additional duties may include participation in Orientation, external group rentals, camp programming and/or Challenge Course supervision.
- Represent the department on various committees and initiatives.
- Assist administrative support to the rec football league in Residential Life.
Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management or related field.
- A minimum of one year professional experience working in a collegiate/community recreation environment.
- A minimum of one year experience supervising staff (graduate assistant experience is accepted).
- Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, leadership, decision making skills are essential, as well as the ability to work individually and in a team setting.
- Candidate must have or be willing to obtain American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid instructor certifications to assist with staff certification and training needs.
- Candidates must be open to a flexible schedule including evening and weekend obligations.
- Master's degree with 2 years of post-graduate experience in Intramurals and/or Club Sports.
- Experience with or knowledge related to adaptive/unified sports leagues.
- Experience training sports officials and/or officiating at minimum two sports.
- Experience working with software packages including IM Leagues, Fusion and SubitUp.
