HSCPC Professional Practice and Clinical Education Specialist - (220003KJ) The Professional Practice and Clinical Education Specialist is a Registered Nurse who will assess educational needs; plan, design, organize, deliver, and evaluate educational programs to meet identified needs, promote professional growth, and assure a standard of quality interdisciplinary care. All efforts are directed toward continuous quality improvement and family-centered care. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served at HSC PC. Minimum Education BSN Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required) Master's Degree Or equivalent years of experience in Nursing Leadership and/or Nursing Education (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience 5 years Inpatient pediatric experience (Required) And 2 years Previous experience in education and performance improvement and or a clinical leadership role (Required)

Job Functions Professional Practice and Staff Education - Clearly defines and communicates standards for clinical performance. Monitors assigned staff’s clinical performance and provide appropriate feedback.
- Develop/implements staff education plans to meet organizational and departmental goals utilizing a mechanism to track and measure staff learning needs.
- Develops/implements annual competency/education for staff and incorporates capacity for program flexibility to meet changing needs throughout the year.
- Introduces and maintains an educational offering feedback system that encourages participants to give meaningful suggestions that can be used to improve future programming as system and customer needs evolve.
- Incorporates teaching of organizational skills, study skills, resource utilization, and identification of individual strengths/weaknesses/learning styles into education planning.
- Reviews current regulations and educates the organization on standards of care, licensure and certification requirements, and other clinical up- dates that relate to patent safety guidelines, competency, and training required for the delivery of patient care.
- As an expert resource, supports specific teaching needs of clinical areas for the safe and effective delivery of patient care.
- Participates/leads clinical pathway development and organizational and unit based interdisciplinary committees.
- Serves as the program developer and instructor for in-house clinical training programs for nursing and all clinical staff as appropriate.
- Establishes systems for communicating available online and other educational programs and tracking participation in eligible programs. Designs and implements continuing education for staff across the organization.
- Builds positive relationships as a clinical and education expert in the system and initiates the development of effective communication channels for Leadership to make requests for assistance and offer input for ongoing improvement.
Staff Onboarding and Orientation - Creates initial environment through new employee and specialty orientations that assist with the long-term recruitment and retention of qualified personnel
- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure departmental staff receive, when appropriate, continuous orientation and training in performance improvement activities and adherence to all hospital safety-related requirements.
- Develops a nursing orientation for new nursing hires and facilitates the entire orientation process including the optimal pairing of orientees and preceptors.
- Develops and maintains a formalized preceptor training and recognition program that supports the annual education plan.
- Maintains outside resources for developing relationships to ongoing clinical rotations for nursing students, training and education programs. Tracks participation.
- Supports staff participation in the establishment of appropriate learning objectives, activities, and exchange of ideas. Implements strategies to assist students in achieving their goals and objectives.
- Maintains education files for competency standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting needs.
Leadership and Consultant Role- Responds to all staff in a fair, non-judgmental, and supportive manner.
- Establishes an environment that stimulates and motivates staff achievement in clinical performance.
- Attends patient rounds when possible to identify areas where additional education/resources are necessary in order to provide quality patient care.
- Participates in the development and review of patient care policies and procedures and nursing practice guidelines.
- Participates on interdisciplinary teams and hospital-based committees to make recommendations regarding clinical practice standards.
- Supports the development of patient/family education materials/resources and educates staff to successfully execute caregiver training.
- Maintains documentation to meet all regulatory requirements.
- Works cooperatively with Leadership and others as a partner in building an infrastructure for the establishment and branding of state-of-the-art staff development programs to meet the needs of the organization.
- Responsible for coordinating the activities of outside educational consultants engaged in program presentations, ensuring cost-effective, and timely presentations.
- Completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
