Academic Program Coordinator


Job Summary
The Academic Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing the vision and strategy of programs in the Department of Health Sciences. Coordinates and manages specific day-to-day operations within the Physician Assistant Studies program, including those related to admissions and supervised clinical practice experiences. Participates in the implementation of program self-assessment processes and maintenance of accreditation requirements for the Department of Health Sciences and the Physician Assistant Studies program.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Participates in the design and development of the Physician Assistant Program by implementing, administering, and evaluating program policies and procedures in order to achieve program objectives.
  • Provides information and advice to current and prospective students, parents, faculty, and others in areas such as academic programs, program requirements, and admissions.
  • Oversees the processing of admissions applications and other academic records for the Physician Assistant Program and Department of Health Sciences. Makes independent decisions regarding applications following prescribed guidelines.
  • Writes and edits content for accreditation reports and other program activities.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of program self-assessment processes to evaluate program performance and progress toward meeting program goals and outcomes.
  • May assist in the evaluation and administration of program curricular components.
  • Monitors program expenses, budgets, and finances.
  • Conducts exit surveys for the purpose of maintaining relationships with alumni and clinical practice partners.
  • Manages logistics for various events including foundation representative visits to campus and end of the year reception


Other Duties:
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution from an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Two years of full-time professional experience working in Academic Affairs with college students.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience with computer systems and proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Knowledge of social media and web design.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently to complete assignments.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service.
  • Ability to present to large groups.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environment.
