The goal of the specialist is growing mobile app subscribers through the execution of scalable campaigns and full funnel user journeys for our 200+ local property apps and our USA Today national app. The specialist is key partner with the retention and engagement team, supporting strategies and enabling user experiences that reduce subscriber churn and user churn.
The specialist supports the app growth marketing manager in developing and executing a full-funnel app growth and retention strategy.
Owns these KPIs:
App downloads, starts and volume growth, in-app path-to-conversion metrics (pre-purchase screen views, cart abandonment, pre-purchase screen conversion rates), Paid WAU and MAU
Essential duties and scope
- In collaboration with native product, creative, analytics and QA teams, own in-app campaign management to ensure smooth sales campaign and messaging updates. Monitor app performance daily and adjust campaigns as needed.
- In collaboration with native product and QA teams, own mid-to-lower in-app free-to-paid (app) journeys with associated messaging/user experience.
- Propose and test creative and messaging optimizations, user experiences, and customer segmentation to optimize the funnel and improve conversion rates.
- Collaborate with retention and engagement teams on app user retention and engagement strategies.
- Work with regional team to implement scalable in-app marketing campaigns
- Working with product, marketing, news, and content distribution teams; scale and optimize organic install campaigns through owned and operated channels.
- In collaboration with QA teams, ensure consistency and accuracy of meter, messaging and pricing strategy across portfolio.
- Working with data insights team, ensure tracking, reporting, evaluating, and communicating learnings are shared with all internal partners.
- Be the app champion with all internal partners pitching ideas and innovation to improve, enhance the product and consumer experiences that support mid-to-lower funnel conversion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience
- 3+ years working experience in digital marketing or growth field, mobile marketing preferred
- Efficient in MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience with Google Analytics, Data Studio
- Ability to interpret data to inform actionable insights that drive app campaign messaging strategies
- Up-to-date knowledge of Google Play and App Store guidelines and app trends

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $34,200 and $80,500. Variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and union representation, if applicable.
