Requirements:

We are searching for a doctoral-level CRNA (DNAP, DNP, and/or Ph.D.) who can bring their experience, enthusiasm, and joy for teaching to this important position. As our Assistant Program Director, you will also be brought on as a faculty member of Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). IAA will facilitate and support you in this additional role.

Appointed by the NAPH Program Director in consultation with the IAA Board of Directors, this full-time salaried position is 80% administrative, and 20% clinical. Job Qualifications

  • Current licensure: RN and APRN state of Connecticut
  • Current recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
  • Two years experience as CRNA
  • Experience as a clinical and didactic instructor
  • Doctoral degree required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of student clinical educational activities, including assisting with daily clinical student assignments that consider the needs of the patient, student, the program, and Council on Accreditations requirements.
  • Assists Program Director in coordinating students' didactic and clinical activities.
  • Assumes an integral role in mentoring, training, and evaluating students, the Assistant Directors of Clinical Education, and the Clinical Site Coordinators.
  • Assumes responsibility for program administration during the absence of the Program Director.
  • Serves as a member of the Evaluation and Admissions Committees.
  • Assists the Program Director in the development of the annual budget.
  • Participates in clinical and didactic teaching.
  • Provides staff support to Program Director for maintaining program accreditation.
  • Attends and represents the school at professional and educational meetings. Keeps current with state, regional, and national nurse anesthesia-related matters.
  • Mentors SRNAs in the clinical and didactic aspects of the curriculum.
  • Recommends areas for research and case presentations.
  • Participates in activities to continuously improve the quality of clinical and didactic education.
  • Maintains professional credentials, pursues scholarly interests, participates in service projects, and acts as a role model for students and faculty.


Job Complexity:

  • Judgment is required in planning, developing, and coordinating clinical educational activities.
  • Judgment and time management skills are needed in setting work priorities.
  • Discretion is involved in performing student evaluations and counseling.
  • Interact with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, SRNAs, other hospital departments, faculty, and administrators at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). Mentor and role model for SRNAs.
