Lead Bicycle Mechanic
Lancaster Recumbent is searching for a bike mechanic to join our team. The primary focus and responsibility for this position is to build and service recumbent and adaptive trikes, bikes, and handcycles. Bike mechanics at our shop are responsible for building cycles to the specification of the customer, communicating and documenting any supplier/ manufacturing issues, servicing cycles, researching retrofits and customizations, and managing parts and time for inventory and billing. This position is also responsible for maintaining our stock inventory and rental fleet so they are ride ready at any time.
Beyond the workshop, it is expected that the mechanic will support shop operations - anything from answering phone and email queries to interacting with customers to sell cycles and services, facilitating test rides and fitting individuals, some with special needs, to their new cycles. From time to time, the mechanic may be asked to support events for charities and organizations, train groups on how to use and maintain cycles in their fleet, attend trade shows and support deliveries.
Requirements:
- 2+ years bike mechanic experience with good working knowledge of tools and techniques to repair and maintain cycles; accredited bicycle mechanic training and experience with power assist motors is a plus but not required.
- Experience in retail sales and/or customer service is a plus.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team; work smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning.

- Basic computer skills including typing, web browsing (Internet Explorer/ Edge, Google Chrome); experience with Lightspeed Retail POS a plus.
- Must be able to ride a two wheel bike and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Available to work Tuesday - Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.
- Valid driver's license (may be required to drive shop vehicles from time to time).
- No dog allergies (we have a dog that is present at the shop daily).
