Divisional Manager

Manages and supervises the daily distribution and coordination of newspaper delivery routes and monitors independent carrier functions. Oversees distribution of all partner products within the delivery footprint of assigned distribution center. .Develops and executes sampling programs. Ensures newspapers reach subscribers on schedule and performs related newspaper sales activities. Addresses and resolves subscriber complaints effectively by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Position Responsibilities
  • Expedite distribution or access to product(s) among independent contractors for home delivery and single copy, if applicable. Count and prepare products to ensure efficient product distribution to independent contractors in accurate quantity and ensuring advertising pre-print zone integrity to the specifications of the manifest, delivery schedule, or pre-print zone document.
  • Reviews all carrier contracts to ensure compliance with Lee Enterprises guidelines. Ensures contractors pay is executed in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Provides coverage and delivers newspaper shortages, complaints, and handles open routes in the absence of district managers. Resolves all customer complaints involving non deliveries, damaged newspapers, and billing problems.
  • Ensures adherence to scheduled deadlines with district managers involving daily newspaper deliveries; assists in the verification process for all delivery starts and stops and meets and meets or exceeds minimum service standards within the distribution center footprint
  • Familiarize new contractors with documents (manifests, subscriber lists, and route bundle sheets) intended to alert the contractor to changes in draw quantities, delivery frequency, placement requests, new subscribers, vacation hold requests, or terminations.
  • Carries out managerial, supervisory and leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, specific circulation procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
  • On-site, regular and reliable attendance is required
  • Safely drive to and from various locations
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists in special projects as needed.

2. All other duties as assigned.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to follow all Company policies and procedures including but not limited to attendance standards.

2. Must have valid drivers license, insurance and reliable vehicle

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

.High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of four years experience working as a district sales manager and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years specific circulation and newspaper experience including industry trends, marketing media and selling products constitutes a significant resource in providing advice to management. Knowledge of the demographic market and within the industry and growth potential is necessary. Previous managerial/supervisory and sales experience involving customer service required. Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel required to effectively communicate and perform the administrative functions. Knowledge of general office procedures and basic accounting principles involving budget expenditures. The employee would require a minimum of three to six months to become familiar with company and departmental procedures.
