The Business Analyst is responsible for the collection, analysis, and reporting of sales-related data to increase the overall productivity and effectiveness of the Sales teams. This position will create both standardized and custom reports, produce insights that drive increased sales results, and provide overall support across the broader sales team. This position will also evaluate and identify trends in sales by analyzing industry data, from both within a company and outside. This involves collecting and examining data and using the information gathered to create coherent, intelligent reports, then presenting your reports to your team and to management.    

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides input for high performance target tracking and analysis
  • Leverage diverse technology platforms and data sources to model "what if" scenarios that can be used to evaluate key business growth drivers.
  • Provide analysis of new distribution opportunities, develop recommendations on estimated volume, monthly turn, and pipeline estimates
  • Cross functional support for Marketing, Purchasing, and Sales on data, forecasting, and issue resolution
  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes for the field sales operation.
  • Work with business units and sales leadership to develop revenue forecasts. Track performance against these forecasts and perform analysis to understand performance against forecast.
  • Identify, research and modify variances to forecast by changing business and market conditions and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Refine large quantities of information into concise, useful, and meaningful management reports, with an emphasis on providing timely and accurate answers to key business questions.
  • Support strategic forecast initiatives designed to improve quality of the forecast and close the identified gaps
  • Present analytic work clearly and appropriately, enter data and validate data as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas and some VBA experience)
  • Additional data handling technical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to take deployed priorities and segment the data with those priorities
  • Analytical and Data Driven
  • Experience with SAP
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with imperfect data and manage ambiguity to support business decisions.
  • Ability to work independently on data analyses and combine multiple data sources across multiple views to uncover trends

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Accounting, or other quantitatively oriented field required
  • 3-5 years related experience in planning and Forecasting or Sales Incentives, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CPG or big box retailers
