Job Summary:
The Social Environment and Health Lab in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University – Chicago Campus is looking for a detail-oriented individual for a Research Project Coordinator position to support maternal health equity research. Our lab's mission is to understand the ways in which the physical environments, social interactions, and structural and cultural factors that shape our daily lives influence our health and contribute to health inequities. One project the Research Project Coordinator will support is a study that seeks to explore how pregnant people respond to stressful experiences in their everyday lives and how that influences the health of mom and baby. This role will also support a project working with a geographically diverse group of pregnant and birthing persons, community organizations and other stakeholders to identify the most salient approaches to address the adverse impact of exposure to structural racism on Black-White inequities in adverse pregnancy outcomes and cardiovascular disease risk.

Specific Responsibilities:
Technical
- Leads execution & control of a biomedical &/or social science project or research study.
- Coordinates processing & analysis of data, conduct of experimental tests & procedures.
- Ensures completion of study activities per protocol including recruitment.
- Obtains informed consent.
- Interviews & obtains medical & social histories.
- Collects data from medical records.
- Administers, schedules &/or scores tests.
- Oversees & manages collection, maintenance, analysis & evaluation of data that will be used in grant submissions, presentations & publications.
- Ensures that information is entered correctly into databases.
- Ensures that all study documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols are completed in a timely manner.
- Assists with the development of research study protocols and data capture tools.
- Orders & maintains inventory of study supplies.
- May process payments for research participants per study protocol.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
- Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 1 year research study or other relevant experience.
- Supervisory or project management experience required.
- Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years
- Strong project coordination skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact sensitively, effectively, and professionally with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
- Candidate should have experience carrying out research protocols (experience working with population health studies or maternal health studies preferred).
- Experience working in a large research institution preferred.
- Experience in a participant-facing research role.
- Experience with REDCap.
- Experience collecting, coding, and analyzing qualitative data.
