Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct a research project entitled: Activity-dependent release of human alpha-synuclein (Syn) and Tau in the brain. This research is being supported by a NIH grant recently awarded to the PI, Dr. Daewoo Lee.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research exploring how alpha-Syn and tau spread between cells in the nervous system under supervision of the PI.
1. Conduct supervised research exploring how alpha-Syn and tau spread between cells in the nervous system under supervision of the PI. This may include but is not limited to: (1) characterizing molecular and biochemical profiles of released alpha-Syn and tau, (2) examining whether activity-dependent release of alpha-Syn and tau is affected by their mutations and other genetic factors, and (3) identifying proteins interacting with alpha-Syn and tau to trigger their release.
2. Secure publication in peer-reviewed journals.
3. Train and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory. Assist in mentoring students and trainees on experimental design and conduct in addition to training on manuscript submission and presentations at annual meetings.

Doctoral Degree in Biological Science or Neurobiology
