Assistant County Attorney II or III – Civil Division
Position will be filled as either an Assistant County II or III depending on the qualifications of the finalist.
This position performs professional legal work involving legal research, precedent issues, law enforcement issues, jury and court trials, court and administrative hearings, condemnations, forfeitures, appeals, and contested cases. Assignments are usually specialized as to type such as criminal prosecution, tax work, property law issues, or human services agency work. Represents Scott County and the State of Minnesota in legal matters and provide legal guidance to all departments within the County.
Minimum Qualifications: Assistant County Attorney III: Requires admission to the bar in the State of Minnesota or eligibility for license reciprocity and five years experience as a practicing attorney, performing specialized duties directly relevant to the position. Assistant County Attorney II: Requires admission to the bar in the State of Minnesota or eligibility for license reciprocity and one year experience as a practicing attorney, performing specialized duties directly relevant to the position. Preference given for previous experience in the area of civil law. One must be able to multi-task in an environment of fast changing priorities and various assignment. The incumbent shall possess a valid driver's license and provide a reliable means of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities.
Hiring Range: $89,764 – $125,462 annually
