Pathology Assistant

Shannon Medical Center is a non-profit healthcare organization looking for a 2nd fulltime Pathologists' Assistant. There are 5 pathologists and 1 PA at present. The PA's rotate weekly coverage between the Medical Center and the Clinic. The Medical Center had 15,349 cases last year with a daily block volume of 142. The Medical Center sees one to two resection a day (breast, colon, prostate, kidney, and thyroid cancers) and sees a heavy amount of GI biopsies. The clinic had 9,621 total cases last year with an average daily block volume of 58. Most of the specimens at the clinic are skin shave biopsies and skin excisions. The PAs do not cover frozen, do not work weekends, do not teach residents or students, and do not perform autopsies. PAs are only responsible for grossing the entire gamut of specimens from the small biopsies to the large resections.
