The Borough of Lansdale is in search of an exceptionally skilled, experienced, and dynamic professional to join its team as the Director of Human Resources. While my tenure in this role has been immensely fulfilling, it is time for me to transition into retirement and create space for the next highly motivated individual. As the Director of Human Resources, you will be tasked with overseeing all facets of human resource management within municipal government, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, classification and compensation, and policy development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to borough manager and serve as chief advisor on all human resources related matters
  • Develop and implement human resources policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract and retain top talent, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Provide guidance and support to departmental managers on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Serve on the negotiating team for collective bargaining and as point-of-contact for all labor relation issues
  • Serve as resource for employees to resolve conflicts, provide guidance on professional development, and understanding of policies and procedures.
  • Stay abreast of relevant employment laws and regulations and ensure compliance across the organization.
  • Manage employee benefits programs and timekeeping process, maintain up-to-date job descriptions and review salary plans for internal and external equity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote a positive organizational culture and foster employee engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required; Master's degree preferred.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification is required
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience negotiating and interpreting collective bargaining agreements
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in human resources profession, preferably in a municipal government or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization. Formal mediation training preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of effectively managing teams and driving results.
