Job Summary
The Patient Activity Assistant is responsible for assisting the child life specialist with planning and providing developmentally and psychosocial appropriate stimulation and activities for patients in the playroom and at bedside. This position supports the developmental needs, emotional and play needs of infants, children youth and families.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Ability and willingness to interact positively with patients, family members; including working with patients with acute, chronic and complex disease process; Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently; Ability to function effectively under stress of conflicting demands and during tense and emotional situations; Must be able to set priorities and possess good organization abilities; Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with patients, families, medical staff, community groups, and donors

Preferred Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Early childhood, child development, education, psychology or related field; 2 years' experience working with children and or families; Experience working with children and families in stressful situations/ healthcare setting preferred.
