Transformative Learning (TL), housed in the Office for Student Success, is a centralized student support unit on campus, a student's one-stop shop for on-campus academic resources. What is a Peer Supported Learning (PSL) Teaching Assistant?
PSL TAs support Transformative Learning's peer-to-peer academic support services. These services include The Study, which provides drop-in peer tutoring for math, science, and business courses, Presentation U: Speaking & Writing Center, which provides peer tutoring for communication and composition assignments for any class, and Supplemental Instruction, which is peer-led study groups for some of UK's most challenging courses. The PSL TAs work collaboratively with student leaders, Program Coordinators, and the Associate Director for PSL to advance PSL services and empower students to discover their own success.
A typical workday for a PSL TA: An example of a typical workday as a Peer Supported Learning Teaching Assistant includes 4-6 of the following:

A typical workday for a PSL TA: An example of a typical workday as a Peer Supported Learning Teaching Assistant includes 4-6 of the following:
- Supervise and observe PSL services in one or more of our on-campus locations, in a set weekly schedule, for 10-12 hours per week
- PSL services operate afternoon and evening hours Monday-Friday and Sundays.
- Programmatic support for PSL services including assistance with hiring, training, marketing, and assessment projects
- Preparation and facilitating one or more department workshops (e.g. campus-wide tutor training and GRE Prep seminars)
- Supporting leadership development of student employees
- Contributing to outreach/promotional/marketing efforts of PSL and the Department of Transformative Learning
- Researching, benchmarking and developing innovative peer support strategies
- Attending team meetings and other professional development trainings
- Other duties as assigned
