Teaching Assistant Professorship in History (2024)

The Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences invites applicants for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professorship with a 3-3 course load, to begin in August 2024, pending budgetary approval. This position is outside the tenure stream. This position will be for a three-year period and is renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Salary and benefits are competitive and there are promotion opportunities possible according to guidelines established by the Dietrich school.

We welcome candidates who are dedicated to excellence in undergraduate teaching. We are open to candidates specializing in any historical time period and thematic field. As for their regional specialization, we seek candidates who teach courses on any region of the world outside of the Americas and the Atlantic world.

Required qualifications:

Ph.D. in History (or closely related field) in hand by August 2024.

Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level

Investment in innovative and effective pedagogical practices
