The lab studies the mechanisms underlying immune responses in the context of vaccination and pathogenesis of viral infections.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
Essential Functions
- Maintain large colony of rodents - Perform routine animal husbandry techniques- Basic mammalian cell culture techniques- Genotyping; DNA/RNA analysis; Quantitative real-time PCR, Western blotting and Immunohistochemistry- Process samples from immunized/infected animals is expected- Effective communication skills; possess attention to detail and have excellent organization skills
Physical Effort
Mostly sedentary position. May be required to walk between laboratories and collaborators.
