Extension Program Assistant I

Pay Grade 32

Program Assistant II is responsible to the County Extension Director and works under the direction of county Extension Agents. This position will support county work in implementing educational programs for youth and adults as related to 4-H Youth development including but not limited to preparing and researching information and materials for educational programs and presentations. Assist in providing guidance and directions to other program educators (agents and program assistants ) with procedures appropriate to acquiring materials for the program, maintaining program records, budget records, travel request procedures, and personnel procedures. Duties include:

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion or veteran status.

· Plan, execute, and evaluate educational programs under the direction of the agents and County Director.

· Implement, evaluate and report program related to organization, leadership, recognition, sponsorship, etc.

· Secure and train volunteer leaders and serve as an educational resource for educational youth programs within the county.

· Responsible to the County Extension Director and must keep current on the latest research information in youth development.

· Assure program implementation, delivery and evaluation activities are in compliance with the guidance and established policies and procedures for the program and for Extension.

· All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications :

Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education, experience, skills & abilities, (licenses & certifications):

· Successful applicant must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

· Must have a high school diploma, preference will be given to those with a degree related to youth development.

· Clear background check will be required.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

· Ability to organize files and prioritize tasks.

· Ability to manage budgets and research topics to be used for education development.

· General office and computer skills with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

· Experience working in and out of class room settings preferred.

· Experiences related to working with youth and adults

· Experiences related to working with horticulture.
