Description

Position summary: The Department of Nutrition at the University of Tennessee invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position. This is a 12-month (renewable) appointment with an expected start date of May 15, 2024. This faculty member will have responsibility to teach face-to-face and online sections of Introductory Nutrition (NUTR 100) and World Foods (NUTR 216).

The individual in this position will contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of Department of Nutrition, College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS), and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK).

Position Responsibilities:
  • Teaching (90%)
  • Teach multiple sections of face-to-face and online Introductory Nutrition (Nutrition 100)
  • Teach multiple online sections of World Foods (NUTR 216).
  • Collaborate with undergraduate program director and program faculty to revise, update and incorporate new pedagogies in Nutrition 100 and Nutrition 216 courses.
  • Identify and develop new online/hybrid courses in Nutrition that can meet UTK's general education requirement.
  • Teach other introductory nutrition courses in the undergraduate program.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned master's degree or higher in nutrition or a closely related field.
  • Prior experience teaching face-to-face/online/hybrid courses in introductory nutrition.
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse group of students and colleagues
  • Ability to meet requirements for onboarding with the program's primary clinical partner, Cherokee Health Systems
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in nutrition or related field
  • Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Licensed as a licensed dietitian nutritionist (LDN) in Tennessee prior to start of employment
  • Experience developing online/hybrid courses in Nutrition.
