Description
University Honors at the University of Tennessee Knoxville invites applications for an open rank non-tenure track faculty position. As the first in a series of faculty hires specific to the University Honors academic unit (within the Division of Student Success), we seek a dynamic and innovative educator who can inspire and engage high-achieving students through a problem or project-based and human centered design-thinking pedagogical approach. The successful candidate will have a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to fostering a transformative learning experience for honors students.
The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.
This 9-month appointment will be primarily instructional, with varied service expectations (e.g., curriculum curation, mentoring, outreach). The appointment will be eligible for a renewable 1, 3 or 5-year appointment dependent on experience and qualifications.
University Honors at the University of Tennessee Knoxville serves approximately 2000 honors scholars (typically the top 7.5% at the institution) from varied disciplines. Supported by a staff of ten, honors scholars receive coaching and a host of benefits (e.g., scholarships, Honors Living and Learning Residence Hall, honors lounge, priority registration). Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience and strong commitment to interdisciplinary student-centered teaching and expertise in pedagogy that fosters a culture of equity, inquiry, collaboration, and creativity.
- Demonstrated expertise and/or experience in Problem or Project-Based Learning, Human-Centered Design, or a related pedagogical approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment.
