Job Summary
The Division of Epidemiology within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah is in search of a Clinical Research Manager to manage a program of research projects within the newly funded COPES program. This is an exciting opportunity to work with several senior faculty members at both the University and VA. This person will coordinate complex research activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of multiple research studies and support programs. They will coordinate the implementation, quality control and completion of research studies while assisting the Principal Investigators in determining and accomplishing study objectives. They will oversee research studies in an administrative and operational capacity while maintaining compliance with guidelines set by governing agencies.
Responsibilities
Often selects from a predetermined list of alternatives and sometimes recommends or changes policy and procedure based upon amount of discretion given by department. Problems would be referred to superior based upon predetermined guidelines set by the department.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.

Responsibilities
- Collaborates with project teams, leadership, and sponsors, and oversees the program functions and related projects.
- Understands and ensures compliance with GCP guidelines, federal regulations, institutional policies, and internal SOPs.
- Builds relationships and coordinates with internal and external partners to facilitate optimal workflow.
- Supports the investigators and project teams to lead to successful execution of the projects and program functions.
- Trains and mentors staff as needed, with emphasis on continual improvement for both their own work and others.
- Prepares and updates program/project timelines, roadmaps, and reports, and communicates those to leadership and project teams.
- Organizes and leads Investigator and staff meetings. Advises team regarding specific study assignments and timelines.
- Coordinates meetings for the study team, collaborators, and the sponsor. Prepares and disseminates meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
- Gathers, analyzes, compiles, and submits reports to the sponsor on time.
- Compiles information for grant applications.
- May perform functions required of the Project Manager and/or Study Coordinator as necessary.
