Job Summary
The Division of Pain Management is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for a busy pain center at the University of Utah (UHealth).
In this position, you will provide longitudinal pain management care for a variety of patients including:

Responsibilities
Essential Functions

Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/ BLS/ NRP/ ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

- Patients requiring post-operative subacute pain consults
- Patients receiving lidocaine/ketamine infusions
- Patients requiring trigger point injections

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assess the physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
- Formulate the medical plan and prognosis based on patient's condition.
- Consult with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
- Perform selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
- Initiate and/or recommend medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
- Comply with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiate and maintain required records and legal documents.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Counsel patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promote health maintenance.
- Evaluate, plan, implement, and re-evaluate the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area.
- Demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and communication skills.
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
