The Center for Campus Wellness ( CCW) is a confidential and comprehensive wellness office that provides wellness education, trainings and workshops; victim-survivor advocacy services and support; safer sex services for students; collegiate recovery program, wellness coaching, and student involvement opportunities.
We are hiring student staff who will serve as Peer Health Educators with our team. We have 2 types of positions:

Job Summary
The Center for Campus Wellness ( CCW) is a confidential and comprehensive wellness office that provides wellness education, trainings and workshops; victim-survivor advocacy services and support; safer sex services for students; collegiate recovery program, wellness coaching, and student involvement opportunities.
We are hiring student staff who will serve as Peer Health Educators with our team. We have 2 types of positions:
- Generalist: PHEs will assist CCW staff from the Prevention Education team to plan, implement, and evaluate health education programs for students at the U.
- FSL Embedded: These PHEs will train with CCW and assist staff from the Fraternity and Sorority Life office to plan, implement, and evaluate health education programs for their FSL peers. These programs will include many of the workshops that the generalists lead, but will also include some programming that is specifically designed for Fraternity and Sorority Life. Some examples include hazing prevention, campus resource education, risk reduction training, etc.
Scheduling Expectations
- June 1 – Aug 14, 2024 (Self-paced, online mandatory training): Beginning June 1st, 2023, selected PHEs will be required to complete 25 hours of mandatory, online, self-paced training before the Fall Training date (August 15). These hours can be completed at any time before that date.
- Summer Positions Available: 1-2 summer positions are available for student PHEs to assist with additional projects which would include up to 19 hours/week beginning June 1st-August 17th.
- August 15-16, 2023 (Mandatory in-person, fall training): Selected PHEs are also required to attend a 2-day mandatory in-person training held on Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16. Times TBD but will not exceed 12 hours of total training time.
- August 19, 2024 – April 22, 2025 (regular PHE schedule): Beginning August 19 (first day of fall semester) through April 22 (Reading Day of spring semester), PHEs are expected to work 10-12 hours per week. These hours may be held during regular business hours (8-5, M-F), but will also include evening or weekend events/programs.
- PHEs will not be required to work during academic breaks (fall, winter, spring), University closure days or holidays when Student Affairs is closed, or during finals week for the fall or spring semester.
- 25 hours of online, self-paced summer training to complete between June 1st and before the Fall Training date (August 15).
- 2-day mandatory in-person training held on Thursday August 15 and Friday August 16. Times TBD but will not exceed 12 hours of total training time.

- Participating in planning wellness events and campaigns
- Assist with STI and HIV testing clinics
- Facilitating educational workshops, discussions, and presentations
- Serving as a wellness resource for peers
- Assist in content creation to promote programs (print and digital) through flyers, social media, brochures, etc
- Contributing educational content through blog posts, social media, and more
- Must be a University of Utah student.
- This position is work-study eligible. However, work-study status is not required to apply to this position.
