Academic Program Proposal Coordinator

The Academic Program Proposal Coordinator reports to the Academic Program Proposal Specialist(s) and State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) Liaisons with a broad set of responsibilities including:
- Rewrite and edit content, working closely with various departments and SCHEV liaisons to ensure alignment with state policy for content, workflow, and aim of writing.
- Reviewing written technical documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, content, and style.
- Collaborate with team members to create automated processes for maximizing efficiency.
- Making any necessary corrections to technical documents ensuring that all written content meets VCU and SCHEV standards.
- Utilize SCHEV policy and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
- Work with SCHEV liaisons to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
- Research, create, and maintain information templates that adhere to SCHEV policy
- Develop content for the website to maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation and maintaining the office website's technical content.
- Creating templates for lead writers that are easy to apply and adapt.
- Work with SCHEV liaisons to prepare and organize documents for final submission to SCHEV.
- Collaborate with Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness in cases when a substantive change prospectus is needed for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
Minimum required qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Demonstrated technical writing skills with the ability to emulate a given style of writing and follow a provided outline or template
- High attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Aptitude for learning new job-related skills quickly
- Willingness and ability to utilize software applications and platforms (e.g., Smartsheets; AXDRAFT; DocuSign; Canvas) and other technologies (e.g., generative artificial intelligence) to fulfill responsibilities
- Master's degree
- Familiarity with SCHEV and/or SACSCOC policies and procedures
